As Super Tuesday draws closer, it becomes more important than ever for the 80% of Americans who understand the national security, economic, and social problems that have arisen as a result of our country's unwillingess to enforce immigration laws to remind people what is at stake in '08.
Since the Des Moines Register debates, the main stream media has taken illegal-immigration off the table. As a result, McCain's campaign has had a resurgence (to say nothing of Hillary, who's drivers license for illegals statements nearly killed her campaign.)
We must not forget who Senator John McCain is.
Sen. McCain, "I've never supported amnesty." [ABC's "This Week," 12/30/07]
Seems Sen. McCain forgot this little ditty back in '03.
"I think we can set up a program where amnesty is extended to a certain number of people who are eligible. [C. T. Revere, "McCain Pushes Amnesty, Guest-Worker Program," Tucson Citizen, 5/29/03]
Or this one.
"'Amnesty has to be an important part." [C. T. Revere, "McCain Pushes Amnesty, Guest-Worker Program," Tucson Citizen, 5/29/03]
But his lies about amnesty are the least of it. Recently, Sen. McCain appointed Juan Hernandez to his hispanic outreach. This is a guy who served in the Mexican government even though he is a US citizen, he supports open borders, and believes in a "Mexico-First" policy in where any Mexican-American, regardless of how many generations their family has been in America, should consider themselves a Mexican before they should an American. [http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59890]
On top of that, McCain's national finance co-chair is Jerry Perenchio, the founder of Univision. A Staunch open borders advocate, he is strongly opposed to any movement that would support or strengthen the English language as our national language. [http://michellemalkin.com/2008/01/28/open-borders-campaign-finance-hypocrisy-eco-radicalism-mccains-billionaire-national-finance-co-chair-jerry-perenchio/]
McCain's posisiton on illegal immigration is simply to wrong to ignore. Worse yet, McCain's other policies draw into question his very loyalty to America and our way of life.
On the Iraq war McCain has called for US troops to remain in Iraq for 100 years, despite the fact that in just the last 4 years we have spent $700 billion, 4,000 American lives, and 150,000 Iraqi lives. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFknKVjuyNk]
He's called for expanding the war to Iran, despite NIE reports showing Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-zoPgv_nYg]
And recently, he's called for even more wars. [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/27/mccain-warns-there-will_n_83459.html]
On the issue of trade, McCain further moves away from mainstream citizens embracing failed free trade policies that have seen U.S. manufacturing and agriculture irradicated.
"I'm a student of history. Every time the United States has become protectionist and listened to the siren song that you're hearing partially on this stage tonight, we've paid a very heavy price." [2007 Republican debate in Dearborn, Michigan Oct 9, 2007]
Maybe Sen. McCain is just unaware of the Hamiltonian economic policies that saw the greatest increase in the middle class in the US than the world has ever known. Maybe Sen. McCain is unaware of the free trade experiment in the British isles that lead to massive defecits and the eventual destruction of the British empire. Maybe Sen. McCain is unaware of the managed trade practices of China, Japan, and India that have seen their countries economies explode. Maybe Sen. McCain is unaware that free trade agreements like NAFTA give international courts sovereignty over the United States.
As you run down the list of issues, one can only wonder what is causing Sen. McCain to come down on the wrong side of issues that are hurting America's independence.
Maybe these guys, who can't understand why a fellow POW like Sen. McCain refused to require Vietnam to disclose their interrogation tactics and results. [http://www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/]
Perhaps we are only left to wonder if the 1962 film, "The Manchurian Candidate" was more than just a movie.
